You Are A Genius is a guidebook to discovering your inner creative Genius and mining it for all it’s worth.

Hi, I’m Doc Bates and I believe every human being has a jam, something they do better than most people around them, a set of skills that sets them apart from the crowd.

As an entertainer, it has been my lifelong passion to write, perform and teach others to do the same. What I’ve discovered through researching this book is this… the same tips and tricks I describe in the book are used across the board by people who make their livings being creative, not just songwriters.

In short, I thought I was writing a book for songwriters, but wound up writing a book for everyone. You see, here is what I found out.

We are all born with the basic building blocks of creativity. Some more than others, but even the most average of human beings are capable of incredible feats of creativity when their core skills are focused and developed over time… and it all starts when we are children.

Give any child a box of crayons and a blank page and they know just what to do. They will draw you something amazing directly from their imagination and present it with pride.

This is the essence of creativity that we all share, the ability to take a vision from our imagination and apply it to the world in some way.

You Are A Genius identifies and teaches the reader the top techniques and strategies used by the greatest creative minds throughout history in order to harness the power of their own creative genius and develop it to great and lasting effect.

This book breaks down the myths that are holding you back and describes the fuel you need to propel you forward on your journey to genius. Reading this book is like looking over the shoulders of the most creative people in the world and studying their process and their habits and it asks this question: Would you be more creative if you tried doing the same things that Albert Einstein did every day, or Mozart, or Beethoven, or Madonna, or Prince?

What if you began to exercise the same habits as each one of these creative people? What are the possibilities and implications to your life and your creativity?

In this book, I break down to the most basic humanity, the most creative people in history, not to lessen their genius, but to amplify the genius of their accomplishments. You see, it would be easy to say, “all of those people were born with that talent and I’ll never have it.” The sad truth is that most people believe this statement… or dare I say… most people believe this lie, and we teach it to our children. Madness I say!

I do not seek to besmirch the reputation of Mozart when I tell you he was born quite average. I mean only the deepest respect for him when I say he was born average and worked his way to genius. I believe if Mozart were standing here today, he would say the same thing. His greatest frustration in life, by his own admission was not that his music was under appreciated. No, he was astonished that his effort was unappreciated.

Understanding this basic truth does two things… it appreciates the effort that he put into his work, and it also gives us all hope that we can all achieve greatness if we are willing to find our Jam, and put in the effort necessary to achieve genius.

The people we revere and respect as genius all started out as average humans. They all started out just like you. At some point, they were all children who knew absolutely nothing, then something amazing happened… they learned and grew. They were fortunate enough to find something that they loved doing enough to do it until they were the best at it.

They were just as afraid as you are, but they acted anyway. They did the work, and it didn’t happen over night, so they kept doing the work until amazing things happened, and still they kept on working.

It is their work that we appreciate, not their IQ scores. And the great thing about work is this… you can do it because…

You Are A Genius!
